I am looking to transfer to one of these two schools. My gut feeling was to attend App but that was just because I liked the environment and the mountain life feeling.(Charlotte was ok as well) It seems to me that the academics are about the same and the opportunity to find employment are better in Charlotte. (Especially outside of North Carolina) I am a business major looking at either finance or international business and USColleges and princeton review have two very different schools of both institutions. My main goal is to find employment and enjoy my learning experience for the next two years. If anyone has any previous experiences about either school, please share. (Unless it is just about parties)

Ehh who would wanna live in Charlotte…UNC-C’s programs aren’t that strong either. GO with Appalachian. Pretty clear choice.

If this was UNC-Asheville vs Appalachian State, then we would have to think harder.

^^Really???.. I actually live in Charlotte and attended UNCC.
Charlotte can be a pretty cool city if you take advantage of what it has to offer.
There’s a lot going on in Charlotte.

Anna, from your post it appears that you have visited both schools. Like everything, there are pluses and minuses for both. Are you geographically closer to one or the other? Will transportation be an issue? Big airport in Charlotte, no airport in Boone.

ASU is in a far more beautiful setting and has more school spirit than UNCC.
UNCC will have a football team for the first time ever this year so that might help in the rah,rah department.

All of my sons’ friends who went to ASU loved it. It is however reaaalllly cold in the winter with lots of snow. That took it out of the equation for my kids. They hate cold weather. But if you don’t mind cold/snow or love skiing…it’s perfect.

Also Boone has far fewer commercial businesses so if you need a p/t job, it could be more difficult.
ASU is right in the middle of Boone so you can walk/bike to places if you don’t have a car.
UNCC is not really walkable to anything since it’s surrounded by four lane highways.
I believe the city buses have stops at the campus. There is a lot of off campus student housing near the campus.

There is definitely a larger opportunity for jobs in Charlotte but if you really like ASU better, I would chose ASU. ASU is well known in the Charlotte area because so many alumni/ kids from the area go to ASU. So you could always job hunt in Charlotte once you get your degree.
The business majors at each school are prob. pretty comparable. Go with your heart.
If you don’t mind the cold, I would go with ASU
