Hello,
I’m asking this for a friend, and we would appreciate any help you can offer. My friend applied to UPenn RD (although it’s her first choice.) However, our counselor forgot to mail in her transcript and counselor rec. My friend only found that out because she talked to our counselor on the 12th when requesting a transcript for another college that is due on Jan 15th. So both her transcript and counselor recommendation are two weeks late now. Our counselor said she’ll call Penn, but would that actually be of use? UPenn has been my friend’s dream school and attending Wharton has been her source of motivation for years. This is really devastating and, for the first time ever, I saw tears on my friend’s face. What can I do to help her? Does she have any chance now?

Yes, she does:). As long as the counselor states that it was her fault, not the student's, I would think she'll be fine. It would be easiest to call or email Penn and ask, just to be certain...

My transcripts were sent almost four weeks late, but I got in ED. So don't feel too bad. It's out of the student's hands, and they'll give a leeway for that.

Yeah, I don't think she should worry too much. First of all, it's not her fault, and, secondly, when I was talking to my counselor earlier this year, and asking about an SAT II in math that I was taking, and wether it would matter that I wouldn't have the results by the deadline, he said that it didn't and that it'd be fine. Being an ex-admissions officer, I guess he would know how schools do things...

Thanks you guys. My friend's feeling much better now after reading your posts. Thanks again, we really appreciate your help.

Yeah just tell her to send it in - as long as the actual application itself was sent in time, the rest of it can be a bit late.

my school doesnt send the transcripts out until the 1st week in feb, so it doesnt matter.
