Hi people, i want to ask your opinions on this thing that's been bugging me like forever. like 1 year ago i stole my friend's money and got caught and everything. dealt with a whole lot of punishment, counselling and stuff, but it was not on my record though (practically my file is clean). so i was wondering if i should write about that part of my life in my essay and how it impacts me etc or is it kind of stupid and i am actually sabotaging myself? some colleges want their applicants clean i think. thanks for your input :)

Mods,

Please move this essay question to where it belongs.

Unless you are able to fully craft a stellar essay that focuses on your growth since then and minimizes the crime in the first place (which is hard to do), showcasing your strength from a setback in a way that distracts from the actual problem, don’t do it.
I highly recommend chosing another topic. There are so many different things you can write about; why risk the potential to sabotage yourself?

Also, yes, you are posting in the wrong section.

I suggest you avoid it. I bet you can come up with another topic to highlight you as a person.

No. I would not advise writing about this. Surely there is another topic you can write about that exhibits your personal growth?
