A Wide Range of Studies

This may seem like a stupid question, but I haven't done a lot of research regarding NYU. Just bear with me if it seems obvious.

So, I've pretty much narrowed my college decision down to three schools, and NYU is one of them. However, my concern about this school is that I don't know its policy about taking a wide range of classes. Is it possible to take classes in other schools? I thought it was a no, but I wanted to make sure. I'd want to be a biology major and do pre-med so I'd end up in CAS evntually (I'm LSP), but I'd also like to minor in theatre if I had the time, or maybe take some types of fine arts or philosophy classes in addition. These are not overly important as I may not even have the time, especially with the already mandatory liberal arts classes, but if my other schools have the option and NYU does not than it may influence my decision.

Also, I'm really not sure if I'd make it into college theatre productions, but I was wondering if there would still be the availability of trying out for some type of production at NYU or if they are specifically for Tisch students.

I'd appreciate any type of information you guys could give me.

you can take philosophy as part of your LSP requirements, probably. they offer a wide range of classes. philosophy is part of CAS.

-there’s classes called “Open Arts” through Tisch that anyone can take, regardless of primary major. sometimes they offer theatre, but the offerings change every year.

the bottom line is, if there’s a class you really want to take, most of the time you can talk to someone within your department to help you get into it. i’m in Steinhardt but i’m taking marketing at Stern next semester. it’s pretty flexible.
