a writing question

Once American films looked slick and commercial
compared to European imports; now, almost the
reverse is true./u now, almost the reverse is true
(B) now they are almost the reverse
(C) instead, there is almost a reversal now
(D) now it is almost the reverse that is true
(E) it has now been almost reversed

i find this problem harder than most problems i encounter.
here's my reasoning:
B is wrong because they is ambiguous
D is wrong because of 'it'
C is wrong because of "instead",i dont know why,but i can just eliminate that by reading, it sounds very illogical.

now im down to A and E. i chose E, but i dont know why A is wrong.
someone help?

collegeboard is so p!ssing me off.
i've had enough. the explanations are so whacked. it doesn't provide thorough reasonings why a choice is wrong. Argh! it doesn't tell you what's behind the logic of the sentence. DOWN WITH COLLEGEBOARD'S ONLINE COURSES(EXPLANATIONS). BOOOOOOOO!

anyway, i have few more questions,
(C) The students were surprised to see a stranger enter
the classroom, and he carried a bowling ball.
(D) The students were surprised to see a stranger
carrying a bowling ball enter the classroom.
i picked C,but D is the correct answer, i think i know why, 'carrying a bowling ball' is just a modifying phrase, but i thought it's wrong because its like saying ball entered the room.. but what CB suggested was "improper coordination"
??!!!!! what the heck??? reasoning?? yy??

By including pieces of cloth, newspaper, wallpaper,
and other materials in his work, Picasso’s innovation
had an important influence on twentieth-century art.
(A) Picasso’s innovation had an important
influence on
(B) this innovation of Picasso’s was important in
its influence over
(C) Picasso’s important innovative influence was on
(D) Picasso was influential, with his innovation, over
(E) the innovative Picasso was an important
influence on
i chose D, because it was actually his innovations that influenced, not picasso. but cb says E, that's fine. but look at the reasoning for D being wrong. "Choice D exhibits akward phrasing, it's strange to say"
OMG,IM SICK OF THIS.

(A) now, almost the reverse is true
well i'm pretty sure you dont say "almost the reverse", you would probably say "the reverse is almost true". sorry, im not too sure about this one.

(C) The students were surprised to see a stranger enter
the classroom, and he carried a bowling ball.
the reason collegeboard said "improper coordination" is because, it doesn't flow logically. "carried a bowling ball" is supposed to be the reason why "the students were surprised", and D demonstrates logical flow (u can see that one causes the other)
3.you underlined it wrong ("twentieth-century art" is not underlined)
and yes i kinda agree with collegeboard saying it's awkward phrasing. it IS a pretty stupid reason, but it does sound awkward. no one says that. watch out for sentences with twists and turns, it's usually the ones with strong and simple logic that are correct.
i usually get all the sentence improving questions right, it takes some practice, u'll get it dont worry.

i always get them right too. but lately i seemed to be improving my cr,but scoring lil lower on writing -.-??
by the way , problem 1 i was kinda stupid, A is correct(that's why i can't find anything wrong with it), E is wrong because of "it", funny how i eliminated D with that ambiguity error but not E, ironic no?
lol. my bad =/
