Hello cc family - I am hoping that someone here can shed some light on what the in-person prescreen process looks like for A1s? My D submitted her application and requested the “New York City Pre Screen #1” which is now listed as being September 17th and 18th (unfortunately, when she submitted her application they didn’t have the dates listed or she would have chosen the 2nd prescreen option ). Do they just get an appointment time for one of those two days? I assume it’s not an all day event? There is just no information about what the prescreen process looks like on their website… thanks in advance!
@JavaJo - They will get an audition time, it is not an all day thing. They use to send them out late December but I think the deadline for applying is earlier now at 11/15 so maybe they will have times worked out earlier. And I think they have one dance call each day but not 100% sure about how that works. Also, she could probably email them and request the November time instead of the September one.
Thank you for the reply @waitingforlife ! - I know that is the case for the actual audition, but do you now if that the case for the prescreen which determines if they will get an actual audition slot? I know they also accept video prescreens (as well as the in person prescreens) and for the video prescreen dancing is optional. But I’m thinking you are correct in that she will most likely get an “appointment” time for her live prescreen.
We thought about emailing to see if she can switch the prescreen dates, but in the FAQ section on their website they state that you cannot make changes to the application once it has been submitted, so she is scared to try to ask.
@JavaJo – The school where I teach is a pre-screen location, so I know about how those live pre-screens work, and how the actual auditions work, but not as much about the NY pre-screens.
That being said, I did have a student who planned to pre-screen at school, and due to a family emergency needed to switch to a video pre-screen, and the people at A1 were very helpful.
From my experience, if your daughter has a question about changing pre-screen dates, or to a video pre-screen etc… I think it will be fine for her to contact the people at A1 herself directly. They like actors and are very nice.
@JavaJo - yes, I was talking about the pre-screen appointment but got my dates mixed up between that and the actual audition. She will get an email with the pre-screen audition time but it won’t be until probably close to the actual date.
Thank you @KatMT and @waitingforlife !
Hello again CC family! Just wondering if there is anyone here whose kid completed the September 17th - 18th prescreen in New York City and if so, have they heard any results? I keep seeing that others who completed prescreens at their schools have gotten results, but just wondering if the NYC results have been released? My D has not heard anything yet…
@JavaJo – I don’t have specifics on the NYC pre-screen, but we had pre-screens at JMU on Saturday. Some have already heard “yes,” and some “no,” and some are still waiting. Maybe NYC is similar?
