I'm looking into the nursing degrees available at my local community college. I was wondering if anyone knew the differences between these two degree paths. Registering/Applying for college is a foreign language to me and I find it unbelievably confusing. Any help would be appreciated!!

I think the big questions are:

1) Is there a layered system for admission for the nursing program? In other words, do you have to competitively re-apply after the first semester or first year to be a nursing major? (I’ve heard of people thinking they were a nursing major at a community college, but then finding out later that there was not room for most of the students to continue into the second year of the program).

2) After completing this program, will I be eligible to take the RN certification exam?

3) Will the credits all be able to be transferred to a 4 year college, if I decide later to get a bachelors degree? (This is particularly a concern with some for-profit colleges. Most public community colleges have agreements for in-state public colleges and most private colleges to accept all of their credits).

4) What percentage of graduates passed the RN exam on their first try? If this number is low, then how about on the second try?
