Gosh, I made a HUGE mistake and applied early action to three schools, including the University of Chicago, Harvard, and Loyola. I thought it was ok to apply EA to these schools b/c they are all non-binding! but today while i was at an interview for harvard the interviewer asked me which other colleges i plan on applying to, and i told him about the two other ea's, and he was a bit worried that i had broken the rules! what should i do? should i just call the u of c and loyola and ask them to change my app for regular decision? will this affect what these college's think of me now? did i just screw everything up for myself? geez, i am so worried!

pick which of those three you'd like be EA...

and call the other two can tell them you made a mistake and you'd like to be placed into reg. decision.

you'll be fine.

i almost did upenn and harvard ea.

see, i am not sure where to apply ea...its either between u of c and harvard. i had my mind set on u of c b/c i was almost convinced i could never be accepted into harvard (its like a dream that could never come true). but after pressure from my counselor, parents, and friends, i have also applied to harvard b/c "you just never know." and then today, my interviewer from harvard said that he does not believe i will be rejected. so i don't know what to do now. i am confused. i already know a renowned professor from the u of c who is allowing me to work in her lab this summer. but then, i have heard SO MANY GOOD THINGS about harvard.

i really need some advice...maybe everybody is being TOO optimistic, and i don't want this excitement about harvard to hurt my chances at the u of c. the truth of the matter is, harvard is an extremely competitive school that should be handled seriously. and maybe i just don't have the test scores to be accepted (act score of 31 :( ).

and i thought my junior year would be the most stressful...

wat are your stats?

wait u cant apply early action to more than one school? shooottt...

hey, you asked for it...

parents are divorced, i wasn't born in america, and my public high school is definetly not top-notch (let's just say that academics is not the number 1 thing on people's minds...)

good teacher recs saying how awesome i write and how i go above and beyond class stuff. rec from u of c professor.

see, all of my stuff is not that great compared to other people's stats around here. what the heck should i do?

Well, my two cents is that you should prioritize your affinity for a given school over your chances of getting in when deciding which school's EA pool to remain in. Mostly because it seems to me that attempting to evalaute your chances is a bit assanine after a certain point. Obviously, if you have a C average and didn't do anything in high school, then Harvard isn't the best option for you. However, if you worked hard, earned reasonably good grades, and pursued something that you were passionate about, then why not apply? You know best what you're comfortable with, so go with that. And, on the plus side of this whole ordeal, at least you are done with two extra applications :). Don't beat yourself up too much, it was an honest mistake. Good luck!

since all your deficiencies are in science it might not be too bad...
i think if harvard is your dream you should go for it, what if is seriously terrible.
also cant you def get into u of c rd?

You can apply to as many EA schools as you want to, but only one ED.

makeyourselfxo,

That used to be the case, but many schools (including Harvard) have now switched to single-choice early action, which is non-binding but allows you to apply to only one school EA.

Interesting, thanks for the clarification.

no you cannot apply to as many EA schools as you want if one of them is SCEA (harvard, yale, stanford and theres probably others)

thanks for the advice guys, but still unsure

Cancel two before December 15 or you won't be able to go to any of them. They do compare rosters when they send out admit notices.

There's not really any advantage in applying EA to Chicago...the acceptance rates for EA and RD are both like 40%. So do Harvard.

fruita...where do u run cross country? im the captain of northsides team...

i run x-c for richards high school! x-c runners unite!

(If this has already been stated I apologize in advance.)

Harvard is early action SINGLE CHOICE!!!! You should drop one of those apps... now! They can throw your app in the trash if they find out you've broken one of the conditions.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but take a look at the rules of EA... I'm just trying to help you out.

You can apply to more than one school EA as long as it isn;t Single choice early action (which harvard is)
