sorry for such an obnoxious tittle,
but this is really haunting me since the first day of school..

I have a algebra 2 honors teacher who does not give out ANY quizes or extra credits;
only tests and homeworks are graded.

the first test I got was 76,
the second was 78,
and the most recent one, 66.

my average now is dropped from 81.80 to 78. something.

the way he teaches are not that hard, but the tests are freakishly long and confusing
that I cannot finish them on time.

However, I was an A average student (regular class) in geometry last year..

and I just did not expect my grade to be THIS bad. I can't stand myself.
(and I'm sure dropped grade A to C does not look good on my transcript.. even though
honors class C is same as regular class B..)

So now Im thinking of dropping Algebra 2 honors to regular algebra 2, but not sure yet..
I am just shocked that I have a C on my report card..... :sigh:

Well, personally I would switch if I were you. If you are struggling in an honors class and you have given it some time, I would switch. If it makes you feel any better, I got a C in normal Algebra 2 second semester of last year. It has annoyed me to this day because it brought down my GPA from a 3.88 to a 3.82:( Luckily, you still have time to bring up your grade regardless of what you decide to do. Best of luck!

Asking the teacher didn’t help me.
Even though I know what I got wrong on the test,
he is not going to change my grade.

god, such a sad reality… :cries:

@Wartsandall:

It’s a good thing that your GPA is still very high… mine is roughly 3.4 now.
but what worries me the most is that when the colleges see my transcript,
they might think that I am a easy-way taker and not challenging myself enough or something.

never had a C since last year, and now it feels like my dream of getting into a college is
completely crashing down.

Well your teacher obviously isn’t going to change your grade. You got what you got on the tests. Do you do all the homework (without mistakes)? Do you study more than just the night before the test? Have you seen your teacher to try and schedule extra help? If none of these work then maybe you should drop the class to a lower level.

Don’t worry! it’s only first term. You can bring it up. I got a C in math one term, but it turned out fine in the end.

You need to know the right answers BEFORE you go into the test, so maybe a tutor would help? A tutor could help you make sure that you completely understand the material and are familiar enough with it that you can go through the test more quickly.

I got a C in math 1 term, and now I’m in Engineering school (it was a substantially harder class than Algebra 2 though…)

If you plan to do something mathy in college (Engineering, Econ, Sciences) then figure out what you’re doing wrong, not understanding, why you can’t do well on the tests, whatever, and figure out how to stop.

If you don’t plan on doing something mathy, still try to figure it out, but definitely consider switching to the regular class.
