Aaja J Camp

Have any ever heard of this summer program before? Is it selective? Any past participants of this summer program?

AAJA : Programs : Student Programs : J Camp

ye, i got rejected!
they only accept 10% of applicants but i dont know whet they base that on

I was just curious since I got accepted but it seems like nobody on CC knows about it.. yeah, I heard it was selective but I'm not sure how competitive it is to get in.

I was accepted as well, and was wondering the same thing :)

hey icanswim, maybe we can get to know each other better before the program starts! you are going right?

Oh MAN!!! I really want to go this now....this would have been perfect since im EIC of our paper next year...and asian!!!

oh well. :/

theres always next year if you're not a current junior :]

i got rejected too.
can i ask about those of you who got in?
(i got rejected to 2 summer programs that i applied for and i don't know why..)

what were your gpa, sat, activities and how were your essays?

i just feel really depressed because i didn't get into any programs and i'm scared that i'm going to be rejected to every college next year.

+and recommendation?

sorry.

^ i feel exactly the same way. i got rejected from 4 summer programs so far (microsoft, caltech yess, and two local research ones)...waiting on cmu sams, a job at sylvan, a local teen internship, and ecology youth corps. oh and i actually got into yea at sd school of mines=)

don't feel too bad. i'm sure you'll get into some amazing school next year and when you do, you should call the stupid summer programs who rejected you and be like, "well i didn't need you to get into X school anyway!"

i hope...

My son attended J-Camp last year. It is a very good program and very selective since it is all expense paid. Congratulation to those that were selected for this year's program. You will learn a lot from it.

I actually haven't gotten anything in the mail. Hmm, not even a letter confirming that they received my app... oh man

Edit:
I'm waitlisted! Sooo by any chance are any of you guys dropping their offer? lol, will any of you go the tako-way and go to TASP instead? :) Just trying to keep my hopes up.

i just submit my papers to confirm my attendance! yeahhh

Hey I'm applying this year. I'm a rising junior. I'm not sure how to answer the questions on the app? Should I be unique? Emphasize my Chinese heritage? And was it competitive to get in?

Thanks!

proviso, you shall just be yourself. Talk about who you really are. The program is selective due to only 42 slots for a few hundred applicants. Just try your best and good luck.

im a rising senior and would really love to do this program esp. b/c it is free

do you guys have any afdvice about the application

when do you get notified if you get accepted?

what sat, gpa, etc did you have?

Put effort in writing your essay will help. As far as SAT and GPA is concern, it will depend on the competition. Just try your best and see what happen.

For those that might still be interested, the dealine is approaching. Your application needs to be received by April 10, 2009. There is still time if you start working hard on it the next few days.

just sent the app in! crossing my fingers hopefully it gets to CA from NY in time

You shall be OK with the April 10, 2009 deadline. The rush of tax return has not started yet.
