AAS Degree to Bachelor's?

IF I DO SAY SOMETHING WRONG OR IF I HAVE UNDERSTOOD SOMETHING WRONG PLEASE CLARIFY IT ON THE REPLIES! I WOULD APPRECIATE IT!

I don’t know if this is the right forum to place my thread but basically here is the situation:

I am going to a community college and so I’m pushing for a two year AAS degree but I would also wanna continue to a university that would give me a bachelor’s or whatever degree I want to pursue when I do transfer. Is it possible that after getting my AAS that I can transfer to a university and the universit will still accept my two years community college time and just have another two years to complete a bachelor’s? I hope that makes some sense If not please let me know and I’ll try to break it down on the replies.

I know that it depends on credit but I’m still kinda confused about transferring from a community college to a university and how it works.

Thanks a lot!

Yes, that is one of the purposes of a CC-- to transfer to a 4 year college.

In many cases, if you complete a full associates degree at your community college, after you transfer you will only need to study for two more years at the 4-year college or university.

But for specific advice about your situation, you need to be communicating with the Transfer Admission Office at each of your target universities because different places have different policies, and sometimes not all of the credits transfer.

You also should speak with the Transfer Advisor at your own community college. That person’s whole job is to help students like you find good places to complete their studies.

Thanks a lot! I was about to get super worried.

I’m pursuing mechatronics system engineering and the community college I am about to be in is linked to Siemens so I’m going to take an exam and get hired right off the bat if I do pass or at least be involved with the company, but i also want to continue my studies and have a better degree than just an associate’s.

The problem is when I looked at the catalog of the mechatronics course it said that the program was not designed to be transferable however there could be agreements towards specific institutions. I’m not exactly sure what that means but I hope it doesn’t mean having to start from scratch and put aside the 2 years I’ve worked hard for. I’ll get in touch with a Transfer Advisor soon. Thanks again!
