So here's the deal. IDK if i'm going to be able to take AB and BC together but which one does Wharton prefer and if i take one without the other, will it hurt my chances or will it not matter? Thanks

Take just BC. Simple.

Really, just take BC. Why would you take both!? AB+extra material=BC, so if you took both it would be learning the AB material twice. BC isn't much harder than AB, the exam is very nicely curved, and you'll have to learn the material eventually anyway if you want to do business.

okey dokey. i really wanted to take it cuz i was applying to wharton and partially cuz i like math....

Are you at a disadvantage if the highest your school offers is AB?

Read this thread (similar question): http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=376271&highlight=calculus

Another question: AP Stats vs. Calc BC, considering I've already taken Calc AB and got a 5 (but a B in the class)

I would take Stat. You will use more statistics as a business major than you would use calculus.

thanks for that thread link NJ113.

Hmmm...Any Wharton kids have a say? Usually I only see engineering schools strongly suggested Calculus before college, but Wharton actually does the same, not mentioning Stats.

Eh pre-cal is all you need to get into Wharton.

If you have time to take both, then obviously take both. More math when applying to schools like Wharton is better than less math.

If you only have room/time in your schedule to take one, and Wharton prefers Calc, then take Calc.

take calc, and take BC. AB doesn't mean anything at Penn, and AP Stats doesn't get you anywhere at Wharton.

taking calc AB AND BC is pointless. if possible, only take BC. if you've already taken AB, and are deciding between BC and stat, take BC.
