I'm applying to SEAS and am taking AB Calc vs BC. Both are offered, but I didn't take AP Calc as a Junior and most people do AP Calc then AB then BC at my school. I didn't double up on my math originally as I was going to be an art major and took more art electives. How will that affect my chances for SEAS? Thanks

shouldn't be a big deal

No it is a big deal...she's going into engineering. take BC calc definitely.

i don't know if she CAN...i think she said it was too late. If your school prevents you from going straight to AP Calc BC, just take what u can (AB), and try learning the extra material to take the BC exam. It has been done before and is certainly doable.

If your school lets you go directly from precal to BC calc, do it. It's certainly doable.

whoa. most people take ab calc before they take bc? that's so different. >_> we went from trig/anl geo/precalc junior year to bc calc senior.

yeah, i went from precalc to bc as well. anyway, to the OP, dont worry about it too much. having BC on your transcript is certainly a plus, shows youre pretty adept in math, but having AB achieves the same effect to a lesser extent. considering you have many other opportunities to show your commitment to math/science, this isnt really something you should worry about.
