I know AB students have junior papers and a senior thesis. Does the independent time it takes to write these papers count for class credits or is this in addition to the 31 required courses to graduate?

Also, for BSE students (specifically Operations Research/Fin. Engineering), are junior papers and a senior thesis required? I would think that the requirement for independent work would be less for a BSE because they have 36 classes, not just 31 to worry about.

The reason I'm asking this is because I got accepted and I'm trying to weigh my options between Economics (AB) or Financial Engineering (BSE). I could really go both ways with my major, so I'm trying to find out other aspects of each degree.

Any other comments on Econ. vs. Fin. Engineering would be appreciated :)
