Abbreviations

Can someone tell me what the different abbreviations stand for?

** DH, DS, SS, DD, ect .

Darling Husband, Darling Son, Darling Daughter… I’m stumped on SS though. Second Son? Super Soaker? Slithery Snake?

SS - Stepson?
RTR - Roll Tide Roll

I was just thinking about this today - very coincidental.
My additional question is how did these abbreviations start? Did they start at UA, or another college forum, or on CC in general? Are they unique to the South? Do people use these salutations in any other context (i.e., speaking in person) outside of CC?
I’m an IP, myself: ignorant parent.

DH, DD, DS, and DD are used on various online forums. Here on CC, some posters will use D1, D2, S1, S2, etc. to denote a specific son or daughter.

On another forum I frequent, UA is United Airlines.

As I deal a lot with certain abbreviations which are actually officially recognized codes, it confuses me when people use nonstandard abbreviations such as SW for Southwest Airlines (the official airline abbreviation is either WN or SWA, the stock symbol is LUV.)

Common abbreviations in the UA forum would be NMF, CC, HS, A&S, CBA or C&BA, MechE, and ChemE, among others.

I have been seeing DH, DD, etc for many years on many forums. When someone is mad at their H, then the D becomes a small d and the d doesn’t stand for Dear or Darling. ;)

In some forums, people will put DD12, which indicates age.

FIL…father in law
SIL…son in law or sister in law…you have to figure out my context.
SM…stepmother
BIL…brother in law
Gma…grandma

So what does IDOC mean

Institutional Document Service

<a href=“Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) – CSS Profile | College Board”>Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) – CSS Profile | College Board;

GT = Geaux Tigers

GT…Geaux Tiggers

;)

Ladies and gentlemen, my bff slippy is a romanticist. In days of yore GT stood for Geaux Tigers among the LSU faithful. Now it is their plaintive wail: Got Touchdown?

You can purchase the purple and gold T-shirt. All proceeds are donated to the Save the Tiger Project.

BTW, #4 = Slip Sliding Away

1 = C&W

RTR!
