anyone know how I can be one?
its my dream summer job
I mean, Im pretty Abercrombie looking

you mean model as in brand rep/sales associate or model as in ads?

ive worked for abercrombie b4 and unless you get approached while youre in the store, its kinda hard to get a job there as a instore employee. if you ask there are always group interviews

as for the ads, i have no idea really....

if you do say so yourself...
there was a 60 minutes episode on abercrombie that we watched in a class talking about institutionalized racism.
there was this woman who said that she just walked in and they offered her a job b/c she was pretty.
So I guess if you're pretty/rugged enough, you just keep walking into the store and hope to get noticed.

Also, I remember my AP euro teacher last year (he's in his mid30's) applied and did not get hired. He's obviously qualified for the job (worked other jobs, current teacher, and he was a college grad). He kept saying that he never got a call back.

Sry, I came across this by accident and it reminded me of this story.

Becoming a store model is different from just working at the store. You have to actually be...a model. ;) But you usually have to be pretty attractive to work at Abercrombie, even as a regular employee. I worked at Hollister (Abercrombie minus the dance music) and basically just went in, filled out an application, and interviewed.

Yeah I've heard things like this before... My mom has a friend who works with people with eating disorders - many of the people she sees have been "approached" by Abercrombie people becaused of their famished appearances. It's really sad.

Something to remember: they don't pay very well (8.50/hr. when I started) and it isn't really beneficial for your resume. I would spend my time somewhere more meaningful that will pay better. The 20% discount on clothes and ability to say you work at Abercrombie really isn't all its cracked up to be.

I wouldn't even use the 20% discount on those awful clothes. I'd swear I'd kill myself if I had to spend my whole day looking at AF clothes

^^^ughhh. agreed.

my sisters friend is Asian, and she went to try out just because of AF's discrimination against Asians. she got the job (she's the only Asian person on the entire team), but its basically a ripoff, cuz the store "highly recommended" that the employees always wear AF clothes to work. So she basically spends her paycheck on AF clothes. i'll say go do community service or something actually meaningful.

My God man! If you look like an Abercrombie model, why are you on CC?(!?!!?)

Egads!

Last summer, I was approached at the store while shopping for my AF-obsessed friend. However, a friend of mine applied, who was way more qualified than me (considering the only work I could write down was making my bed some mornings) didn't get a call back either. >_> If I were you, I'd boycott in front of the store instead. Work at Hollister or something. Similar clothing.

^^that would be pretty pointless. They're both owned by the same company.

hmmmm
i guess research intern would be better?
not exactly the hottest but deff fulfilling

sunshineyday, i saw that on tv..lol

Working at Abercrombie seems pointless unless you already shop there. You would have to buy enough clothes to wear every week and even with the 20% discount their clothes are still way too expensive. American Eagle clearance rack is where my preppy clothes come from haha.

AF and Hollister are owned by the same company? Wow. I didn't know that. Makes sense. The clothing is similar. Wow. Thanks. You're right, then. It would be pointless.

In regards highly encouraging their employees to wear their clothes, wow. Haha. That's all I have to say regarding that. :P

Is there any hard evidence that AF discriminates? I mean, we have all obviously seen it or heard about it, but can we prove it? It just seems surprising that there haven't been any court cases or anything against them (and if there has been, can you link me to any info on it, please).

Getting hired as an employee might be quiet simple if you are pretty, you are a good seller and if you do well at the interview. But if you want to be Abercrombie?s image, then it gets complicated because being pretty is not enough. You first need to have a contract with an agency, so get started

eeee sorry to tell you, but if being a Abercrombie model is your aspiration in life, you should start see in your mind and see if you can live a life of being a model.....:S, i believe your ambitions in life should go way ahead than being a model, even worse a store model

A friend of my daughter's works at an A&F. He seems proud of the fact that he is good-looking enough to get the job, despite the fact that he makes lousy money and has to buy clothes all the time to work there. They give him ridiculous hours, too. What a scam!
