ABET for UCSC?

@Gumbymom I got accepted into UCSC for robotics engineering! I am very excited but I am a little concerned about it because the only 2 that are ABET accredited at UCSC are EE and CS. I am hoping that it won’t affect me too much but I am wondering how taking a major that is not abet accredited will affect my job opportunities after undergrad. Robotics is also fairly new (2011) so im having hard time finding info. Will taking this hinder my chances of future masters programs?

There are many excellent Engineering/CS programs that are not ABET accredited and since Robotics is a new major, it may take awhile for the accreditation to happen. I would not worry about it as long as you are happy with the program.

EE is the only ABET program at UCSC https://www.soe.ucsc.edu/departments/electrical-engineering/undergraduate/abet-accreditation

The CS BA/BS isn’t ABET. CS don’t really need ABET IMO.

As for Robotics? I don’t know but as Grumbymom says it’s a newish program.

Thanks @Gumbymom and @curiositycat333 for the clarification.
