I have a ridiculously low GPA with fairly high test scores, and I'm wondering as a junior which schools would just be a waste of an application fee.
White female from California, 12th best public high school in the west.

I'm planning on taking my subject tests this year in English Lit and U.S. History, as well as those AP tests, and I think I'll do pretty well.

My school doesn't rank since practically all our students are within the top percentile of the country, it became irrelevant.

ECs: Co-founder of Mock Trial, made it to the semi-finals as the lead witness and a prosecutor, member of Honor Court six years, 8 years competitive gymnastics, then two years coaching (part-time job) , (plan to write one of my essays about that experience) 7 hours a week in church leadership, ComedySportz captain 2 years, member 4 years, Drama Club secretary, in drama for 6 years, have had several pieces published in national literary magazines and was a finalist in a major fiction contest last year.

Here's the catch: I have a 3.0 unweighted GPA, 3.4 weighted. I know it's super low; my classes are killing me.

Do you think my test scores and ECs would save me? I'm sure my essays and recs will be steller.

Here are my projected applications-
-UCLA
-UCSD
-UCSC
-UCSB
-UC Davis
-UCI
-Northwestern (Hopefully I'll be there this summer for the journalism program)
-Chapman (I'll audition)
-Boston College
-Amherst

If all of those seem like longshots, what colleges should I be looking at?

Thanks!
