Abolish the SAT - article explains that SAT I measures nothing SAT IIs can measure

the SAT does accurately measure your critical thinking skills and academic abilities. seriously. you don’t see usabo/intel/ap scholar people with mediocre sat scores.

the correlation between sat score and academic aptitude/diligence is very strong. the only people who bash it are the ones who think they’re smart and score low, which means they are not that smart. for example- people bash the writing section. if you were an avid reader and spent time analyzing rhetoric as you were supposed to do in your english classes, you would find that section really really easy and score very high. and you don’t see people who have taken differential calculus bomb the math section.

the people who bomb the sat have sub-par critical thinking/analyzing skills

Actually, there are many of us who scored terrifically high on SAT’s and recognize them for the poor indicators of college performance that they have proven to be (beyond freshman year), because we do read the data.

OTOH those who worship the SAT and really think cough, cough it’s an indicator of “superior IQ” or superior academic ability have not much experience with true IQ tests, nor different testing tools and the correlates with performance.

IOW, they have sub-par critical thinking/analyzing skills and an inability to differentiate.
