About AP Courses

As a rising sophomore with one self-studied AP test experience, I find it curious--for all of you who took an AP course on something, what happens in June? Do you learn anything? And when your score comes, presumably after school ends, does it affect your grade for that course?

I stopped going to class after the AP exam. I would just leave school. Any teacher that tries to continue an AP class is generally regarded as nothing less than a d-bag.

haha we just played cards and watched movies during class and some teachers let you leave, it was the best 2-3 weeks of the whole school year

Lol, one of my teachers had us write a lengthy essay and gave us a final. He was the only AP teacher that did that :/

lucky for some of you guys you dont live in NY. I took AP Euro and then we had to review some stuff for the Golbal Regents in June. Even though it was a joke it stopped us from just chillin in class. Also my school is mad gay and requires every class to have a final exam so for Euro the regents counts as it but for Eng Lang we actually had to do work and we read 2 books after the ap exam and we had to take a final one it

In my calc class, we played Guitar Hero for three freaking weeks. It was horrible. We were supposed to watch South Park, which I looked forward to the whole year, but we were overruled. =[

In econ we watched some interesting stuff, had a field trip, and generally just bummed around, bio followed suit, but in English lit, we actually had to write and present a paper. It was supposed to be an "easy" final, and lightly graded. Yeah, easy my a**ss. Other than the two English APs, most of my APs didn't even have a final, and if they did, you had to try to not get an "A".

I've never had a teacher let the score affect our final grade. Although that would have been awesome.

At my school, all AP classes MUST have a final :(. It's terrible. In Calc AB, we learned Calc BC topics like Int. by parts and partial fractions. In English we read another book and wrote 2 or 3 more essays. And in Statistics, our mock AP was our final so we just played a made up game called dyfungo, which is a game only known by ppl at my school :).

lol is the course even necessary..you don't have to be a genius to self study a 5 sometimes
