About AP Statistics...

Hi, I'm taking AP Stats right now, and I just have a few general questions (due to the fact that I have a horrible AP stats teacher..)

First of all, when we're doing things like finding the least-squares regression line, binomial probability, etc, our teacher has taught us to do everything on the graphing calc. So I pretty much do not know how to calculate numbers by hand for many things (not all, but many) - Is this bad for the AP exam? Should I learn all the lengthy formulas for calculating simple values, or completely rely on my calculator? I ran in to one question where I really couldn't solve it without knowing how to solve it the fairly long way by hand, and the calculator was not much help.

In other words, is it bad that I rely a lot on my calculator for probability values, linear regression, etc?

No it is not bad. In fact, AP Stats is also nicknamed AP Learn How To Use Your Graphing Calculator at least by kids in my school.

i completely agree with u trugrit…im taking ap stats right now and all we do is use our calculators and our teacher says it doesnt hurt us as long as we know a few general formulas

No, it’s fine

You will never have to perform a best-fit regression by hand. That would be impossible. You sound fine, no need to worry.
