About computer science BA major

Hey guys, i'm just wondering if it is very hard to get accepted into the computer science major in letter and science at berkeley at the end of sophomore year.
what is the process for declaring computer science as my major and how do they select people to be admitted into the cs major?

thank you

It’s not hard at all. It used to be impacted several years ago but now you just need a 2.0 GPA or so (for reference the university average is over a 3.0, so don’t worry).

you basically just have to avoid dropping out, essentially you’re guaranteed in the major as long as you take the classes.

Seems really strange if L&S CS is unpopular enough now that all students who complete the prerequisites can declare it, while EECS is difficult to get into.

More information here.

if cs in l&s is no longer impacted
what is the chance that people graduate with that major will find a decent paid job?

[Good compared to most majors](https://career.berkeley.edu/Major/CompSci.stm). And fairly similar to EECS.

To maximize software development career usefulness, you probably want to include 162, 170, 169, EE 122, 186, 160, and 161 in your course list. (162 and 170 are required for L&S CS anyway)
