Some ppl have told me that there h.s. have many “ivy students”

if my school hasn’t sent anyone to a good school lately, is that Bad??
Only 1 person went to a good school last year…Wash U in Stl.
Only 1 person went to a good school the year b4…upenn
No one’s really gone to harvard/stanford and stuff

You go to a bad school. It's easier for you to stand out amongst your peers. Less competition. This is true IF you are able to take advantage of what's offered in your school. Furthermore, you have to make sure your college knows that.

Taking advantage means taking the hard courses, leadership stuff, etc etc.

The only negative for going to a bad school is that the school does not make you a competitive applicant in a pool of applicants from across the country. But like I said, if you can take advantage of your available resources and do well on SATs and stuff, it should be fine.

well, the thing is, my school is ranked one of top 10 in the state of MO (according to standardized tests). However, NO ONE gets into good colleges, i dont know why. What do u think of that?

Maybe your school is small, so not enough people apply to the good school?

Do you know how many people applied to say Harvard? I mean, if 2 applied and 1 got in, thas pretty good?

I guess it's a matter of statistics. Or maybe those people just have the grades and nothing else. They do look for well-rounded applicants. Too many factors to know. How about talking to your counselors.

But if you say your school is top 10, then your school is by no means crappy.

I come from a HS where very few people go to top schools, but thats because nobody applies. First, thats why SATs where created. Second, any college would much rather take a kid from a no-name school in boontown from which they get no applicants than a huge boarding school where 40% of the class applies to the college. Heard this from an adcom.
