about decision dates

i got the 18200 and that can't be it, or i'm not going :-(

isn't the 18200 per year? that sounds pretty good to me.

not when the estimated cost is $49,000. i'm still looking at $30,000 a year which is well, well, above my efc.

American offered me full tuition, think i can negotiate?

if you applied for fin. aid and nothing comes up for you aid/ award. does that mean you didnt get in?

lemonandlime, not necessarily. no one on this board really knows what all the stuff on the banweb site means because no one has gotten official responses about it from the admissions office. i think the adcom is also probably still making decisions, and if the banweb thing is a good sign, the admissions office is probably putting it up for students as they're admitted. don't take any of this too seriously because all of the info on this board is speculation...we'll find out in the next couple weeks...

good luck!

The 18200 is the top merit award that they give I believe - I don't think need based aid has been posted there yet.

i heard gw was pretty generous with need-based aid.

I'm not going to check the banweb thing, it just seems very unreliable at the moment. I'll wait until I get an actual letter from GW. Also, I originally said I would file for financial aid, then realized there was no point, so nothing will probably show up yet.

Is the $18,200 need-based and/or merit based? Because if it's need based, I'm screwed.

that money is an academic scholarship and is based on merit, but who knows if banweb is a reliable source. we'll have to wait for our decision letters to see if we are really receiving that amount of money.

I called GW on Friday and banweb IS reliable but not to determine admissions decisions and they told me to wait for the mail which could come as late as April 15th.
Personally, I still believe that "you must be admitted to degree granting program" is indication of admissions but I don't know, I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch ya know.

I'm stoked. checked the banweb, and found this:

SEAS Scholarship Offered $36,370.00

Whoa...that's quite a scholarship there.

me too! for the SEAS Scholarship: 36,370!
I'm so excited. So when are they sending out letters, I want to know for sure.

April 15 as a date is just inconsiderate. We need to figure out which college to go to in 2 weeks? I have had the worst experience dealing with GW admissions. So much red tape- what will being a student be like?

I'll be extremely surprised if they arrive as late as April 15, especially for those of us being offered scholarships. To find out that late would make it much less likely that I would attend.

I'm a little confused about all of this and haven't had a chance to carefully read all of the posts..

Can someone please clarify why GW would post their admission decisions on banweb if it's not definite? How do we know that we can rely on this and, better yet, that we are allowed to look on it?

Last year, people got acceptance letters in late march/early April. April 15 would be the latest, but the letters will come earlier than that.

Anybody else seeing an "Estimated Pell Grant" on their aid award list? They've put mine at $1,400. Right now I have the Presidential Schol. at $18.2, and the Pell Grant. Anyone else?

It appears that they're updating this system as they go through the financial aid list. Hopefully this means that I'll be getting a letter soon. :)

This may sound stupid but I have a question...
When I logged onto banweb a few days ago it said "you must be admitted to..." however today that wasn't even on there. What does that mean?

Also, some people have posted that it has said "admitted.." and some "you must be..." are these the same (as in some people just not typing the whole thing out) or are they different? Hope that makes sense.

When I try to "check my award" it says there's no data...does that mean I didn't get in ? I thought it probably did but then I looked under "check your personal information or something and it said "current student: 2004--??" Wouldn't it not say that if I didn't get admitted?
