When Colleges look at your gpa, do they consider elective (drama, music, art&technology..etc)'s gpa? or do they simply ignore it? how important is electives' gpa?

becasue next year, i'm taking IB spanish and three other APs, plus Adv. theatre class. this means i still need one more class, so i chose "Art&Technology" becasue i thought this would make my GPA higher since this shold b a relaxing class compared to all of my other hard classes. but then..now i think, i only have 4 cores...isn't that a bit weird:S? plus if elective gpas don't count..my gpa might drop really badly compared to thsi year =( so now i think mayb i shold do General Sociology instead of art&tech..
what do you guys think?? thanks in advance for any help!!! ><
help pls :( thankssssss

It depends on the college. I spoke with our guidance director about this. He said that often colleges will run a quick check on your GPA with only the core classes. This could be a big problem for some of my students who decided to take art all four years, cooking classes for two or three years and lots of shop. They have the academic requirements met but never exceeded those requirements. No extra math or tough science class. The bare requirements for foreign language. BTW, these students will not be majoring in art or doing something with tech ed or cooking.

I would check with some of the colleges that interest you to see what they think. I had one student who was admitted to a highly selective school who called to ask permission to drop physics in favor of EMT. He hopes to be a doctor.

my schedule for nxt yr is
IB spanish HL
AP Lit
AP Stat
AP Econ (macro+micro)
Adv. theatre arts

and sociology..or art&tech, which is elective
so yea im skipping sci :S caz we only need 3 credits for most of the skul and im not going to the engineer field..

i think you should take four years of science because that would put you with the competitive students. if your school doesnt offer that many science courses, then that's a different story..

wel my skul does..
but im not goin to the science field lol
so yea..since im doing business, i thought takin sociology would be more beneficial (:
i HATE history lol. theres no way i can take it...TT
not many ppl take it in our skul as well.
plus ive taken US history..hopefuly thz okayy
i guess sci and history are just not my things =(
i rather do sth i would enjoy, u noe (:
