So I was wondering,
Do colleges use some sort of plagerism tool, like turnitin.com or something similar to look at people's essays, or do the Adcoms just read it?
I'm curious because I'm sure some colleges use the same prompts over and over again, so how can you avoid ideas or quotes?
I was going to borrow a quote that my friend used to get into one college (this would be for that college too), and I want to know whether they'd be suspicious or something.

I'm not advocating plagiarism, but would a quote really even count as that >_>

no, two people from the same school using the same quote won't be plagarism. You both may just really like that quote. However, your essays would/should be different and have different explanations for that quote. If you guys use the same examples and everything then they would suspect you both.

How about if a person who got in last year gave a quote or an idea for you to use for the following year?

Basically, would admission officers have to read the essay and remember the old one, or do they have a tracking system that loads all essay and scans for similarities?
