I applied to FSU right on time (before the deadline) and yesterday I looked up my admission decision and it says the following:
We have reviewed your application for admission to The Florida State University and have decided to delay making a decision until March 16, 2011. We recommend that you provide the following:

Mid-year senior grades - Have your grades sent to Florida State as soon as they become available but no later than February 16.
New ACT or SAT results - Retake either test prior to March 2011 and request that the scores be sent to Florida State.
Now what does this mean? Has anyone else got this? I think this means I am rejected. I am so frustrated right now. I wanted to join FSU in the fall.

NO it definately doesn’t mean your rejected. It actually means their putting your acceptance on hold. They see you have the potential to be a student at the University but they would like you to raise your scores and grades in the areas they provided. Its great that you applied to the October deadline because if you applied to the second deadline you would have g0otten a rejected letter. Their giving you a great oppertunity to still be accpeted into the university through the second decision announcement.

FSUbound - Thank you for telling this to me! I am so frustrated right now. Also IF I got accepted, I know the chances are low but if I got accepted would they place me in the Spring semester?

Can someone who has been through this please tell me whats gonna happen? I mean does anyone have any idea of the chances I have of getting into FSU? Please someone tell me. I can’t wait till March 16th.

I see that you say you cant wait til March 16th, have you considered applying to the summer CARE program? The deadline is January 19th and you would find out your admission to the school sooner, albeit you would have to go in the summer

No I haven’t applied for the summer CARE program but I am not really thinking of starting school in summer because according to me it would be too late. I really want to get into the fall semester but unfortunately I am deferred. So I think I will have to wait. I took the SAT in December and sent them the scores but I don’t think they increased. So I have lost the hope of getting accepted there.

Please be optimistic! Make it a point to increase your chances in other areas such as your grades or your achievements. Don’t let a deferred letter make you feel the battle is over. You still have a great oppertunity to get in and if FSU is the school your meant to attend no matter what happens you will get in. All know that failure is never final. you can do anything.
