I am applying to all the UCs, and I am an economics major.
my GPA is 3.4, and transfer GPA is 3.5.

However I am a little confused about the GPA counting.

I started college 2006 fall, and I am applying for 2008 fall. The deadline for application for 2008 fall is Nov. 30, 2007.
Does this mean that the classes that I am taking this semester(2007 fall) does not count into my GPA, how about winter 2008?

Because if it does, it will work to my advantage.

If I understand correctly, your fall semester classes will count towards your transferable GPA. The general notion here is that admissions doesn’t do much with your application until after you self-report your fall grades, and that these are figured into their considerations.

What my counselors have told me is that (UCs) will review, basically, up until your 2007 Fall Semester grades and admit you accordingly; the 2008 Winter, Spring and Summer grades do count towards your transfer GPA but don’t do much for your admissions.

PS. to Ektaylor regarding “This has been answered many times on this forum. The search tool comes in handy. Though, since you are a first time poster”

why would you say that if you were going to answer it anyway cool guy and the forum is for QandA, it’s not like every single question coming in hasn’t been seen before, or else it wouldn’t be a forum, it’d be a FAQ

Agreed. Fall 2007 grades are like the ‘senior year’ of high school. Just to make sure you’re keeping up the work load and performance level. Good luck!

Why? I don’t think my reasoning is that cryptic --I mean, I even so far as to state it.

Though, allow me to clarify. By using the search tool the OP could have easily found the answer to his question, and many others which he may still have. Again, I stated my reasons as to why I answered the question. It was not meant to insult, it was meant to help.

And, thanks for the ‘cool guy’ label; I am assuming that in accordance with your vernacular it implies something negative, though. That is, assuming you were, in fact, referring to me as the cool guy; it’s a bit confusing considering your grammar, or lack thereof.

We do as much work on your application as we can before the fall grades come into us; just because we don’t like to save all the work until the last minute. The fall grades are very important so no decision, at UC Davis, is made without the application update.
