If you're looking for school pride and a sense of community at NYU, please check out Greek life. Over 10% of NYU students are involved with Greek life as of March 2011. There's no harm in giving it a try and going out for recruitment, and if you don't like it, you can always drop out, no pressure. The only way to know if Greek life is for you is to try it yourself! :)

Our Greek letter organizations include big national names, locals, multicultural fraternities & sororities, business fraternities, academic fraternities, and service fraternities, so you can probably find whatever you're looking for. As they say, no matter the letter, the Greeks do it better! Feel free to ask me any questions about Greek life here. I joined a national sorority at NYU and I'm loving it!

Yes, there are several co-ed professional fraternities! For example, Delta Sigma Pi is an undergraduate business fraternity at NYU. There are also pre-med fraternities.

Typically 2 or 3 sororities participate in spring recruitment. Only sororities that have available spaces are allowed to do spring recruitment. For example, if the max amount of new pledges allowed in a sorority is 30 people, and a sorority gave 30 bids but only 25 accepted, then they would be allowed to take 5 more girls during spring recruitment. Alternatively, if the sorority gave 30 bids and 30 people accepted, but 6 people dropped sometime during the course of fall semester, then they could accept 6 people during spring recruitment.
