look up... :-)

Last year none got in off the wait list. Their yield was higher than expected & dorm rooms are a little scarce this year. For some reason I think I read they never went to the wait list in 2003 either.

Sorry, but i think it's extremely rare to get admitted from the waitlist. In fact, as over30 said, i think they haven't used it for several years.

You can find all the details and many more by poking around the Common Data Sets posted here: http://web.mit.edu/ir/cds/ The most recent data posted there is for students admitted for the fall of 2003, where you will see that (like in 2004), zero students were admitted from the waiting list. It changes from year to year depending on "yield" (how many people who are admitted decide to accept).

Less than 500, this year :)

Last year:
Male applicants: 7,651
Male acceptances: 885
Male freshman enrollment: 560

Female applicants: 2,898
Female acceptances: 850

Female freshman enrollment: 459

Now it will be a bit more enrolled, because of higher selectivity.

oh that sucks....no one taken from waitlist :(

I think none.... (guys, find threads from pages 2,3 etc. to bumb, rather than the first page itself)

Good Luck, but Plan on attending one of the other Great Schools you were/will be/ accepted at.

is the list ranked?

Note that the table above is one year off in all cases. The list above is for freshman admissions in the fall of 2003 back through 1998. The data for 2004 is not online yet, but we have been told that 0 students were admitted off the waitlist in 2004 also. Also note that Ben has said that they do anticipate going to the waitlist this year since they admitted a smaller number overall. (I think I reported that correctly... I hope so!)

OK, richs73cas fixed the years in the table so my post ^^ above is moot. (So to speak. ;) )

Mootmom

Thanks for the quick correction, so I could still get back in, in time to edit!!!!!
