About Korean Study

Hi, I am a incoming freshman major in EE. Although I am not required to take foreign language course (foreign language regents>85), I still want to learn Korean language. My question are:

1) Can I take Korean language course during Freshman year?

2) Do the credits I earn in this course count toward graduation requirement?

3) Will I have the opportunity to study aboard in Korea?

4) How many students register in Korean Study last year. What are they(nationalities)?

Thank you!

1) Can I take Korean language course during Freshman year?
Sure. Make sure to ask the academic advisor you meet at Orientation. There is a four-course Korean language sequence available. KOR 111 (Elementary Korean I) is offered in the fall; II is offered in the spring. Then Intermediate I is a fall course again, and Intermediate II is a spring course.

2) Do the credits I earn in this course count toward graduation requirement?
Absolutely. Any credits you earn count toward graduation.

3) Will I have the opportunity to study aboard in Korea?
Definitely. Link is here: http://www.studyabroad.com/suny/programs.php
Any SUNY student can participate in any SUNY study abroad program.

4) How many students register in Korean Study last year. What are they(nationalities)?
There are 30 seats in the KOR 111 class; I'd assume that's the same for all the levels.

Thank you!
You're welcome!
