If a parent has graduated from the Princeton graduate school, would his/her offspring be counted as legacy in undergraduate admissions?

Also, how big of a role does legacy play in Princeton admissions?

Thanks in advance.

Yes. How much a role? A tipping factor if two applicants were more or less equal, the legacy would get the nod.

After you take into account legacies and recruited athletes, there are very few available slots left. Apply…maybe you will get lucky.

I think the OP is asking a slightly different question than what is being answered. The question is:

Is there a legacy advantage when a parent graduated from a Princeton graduate school, or is it limited to parent undergraduate studies?

Sorry, I don’t know the answer.

No it doesn’t count.

I would be very surprised if it didn’t count… whether it counts less than undergrad legacy I don’t know.

since grad school is overall more important to a person’s careerm shouldn’t that count as legacy?

I’m not sure, but I do think this counts as legacy.

Alumni interviewers can be graduates of the graduate school as well.
I’m sure it makes a difference, as one of the points of legacies is tying families to a specific University.

One of my parents went to Princeton for graduate school. When we visited, she asked the admissions officer if graduate students counted and the admissions officer said “Yes, you will get a boost but it’s not free pass”

However, I don’t know if undergraduate legacy is favored over graduate legacy.

Also, my parent applied to be an interviewer but the local alumni group said that they only wanted Princeton undergrad alumni.

Thanks for all the helpful responses!

@nibbles913: My parent was actually an alumni interviewer the year before last, but that might be because the few Princeton alumni that reside in Beijing are usually swamped with loads of applicants to be interviewed.
