About PennStart....

I seriously tried to get it done. However, after the first lesson, I just completely stopped trying to answer the questions. I either wrote sarcastic answers or just threw things like N/A down. No one actually reads my PennStart answers right? Additionally, is PennStart referenced in any classes?

I hope no one reads PennStart because I did the exact same thing as you. As for class references, I just got an e-mail saying that MGMT 100 will build upon lessons 1 to 6, whatever that means. I’m just going to hope that if I finish it quickly and ignore it that it will eventually go away…

Me too! But I think I should write real answers coz the email also said that answers will be tracked to help assign our final grade. What do you guys think of that?

Terrified…

Amen…

Soooo last summer I did the first few lessons and never even got close to finishing it.
They mentioned PennSTART a few times in the first few classes, but it’s not important by any means.
Wasn’t a problem at all! So don’t worry about it.

(Wait, what’s that about a final grade…? Still wouldn’t worry about it though)

There are multiple answers to the question. Some people have found information that indicated that our answers were going to be reviewed.

“Your responses within PennSTART are confidential. Any information you provide will be used only for the purposes of evauating the program (aggregate data only) and tracking individual progress (in order to assign grades at the end of the semester).”

Others said that upon completion we would get a simple “S” for satisfactory.

“Upon completion of the program, you will receive a “S” grade (for Satisfactory) that will be recorded on your transcript.”

I mean, nobody REALLY knows how or when PennStart will be used. But in any case, you should complete the program. My cohort mentor told me that his friend didn’t complete the program, and he was put on a registration hold for the Spring semester.

Umm, not completing the program won’t get you put on registration hold, especially for the spring–I definitely didn’t complete it and definitely didn’t get put on any sort of registration hold (and it wouldn’t make sense for spring especially, since PennSTART is specifically for MGMT 100, which is a fall class).

If you guys are really worried, find some number related to PennSTART to call and ask. But like I said, last year I didn’t complete it, and there were no repercussions (and it’s not even mentioned in passing after the first or second week of classes).
