On GA Tech’s website - http://admission.gatech.edu/freshman/standardized-tests - they say the last possible instance to take the ACT for Early Action is Oct. 28th, which I am signed up for. What I am confused about is which scores I should send and is it already too late to send any scores?
I currently have one ACT score - 33 composite with 35 english, 32 math. My best possible SAT score would be a 1440 with a 740 in math and 700 in English.
My essay scores arent great for either sat or act, but I was wondering if I should wait for the the Oct 28th ACT date and then send THAT score - which I am also confused as to how soon I would need to send that score?
Currently I am leaning towards sending an official score report, as soon as I can, of my only ACT score, which is the 33 composite. I’m pretty sure this is a good score, but I’m pretty sure I can do better on the 28th? And I still dont know how late I can actually send scores. Also, should I self-report any of these scores that I’ve already gotten? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks in advance.
You have until Dec. 1 for them to get your scores, assuming you’re applying EA. I believe the ACT differs from the SAT in that the ACT will only send individual test scores by default, whereas the SAT (College Board) will send all scores unless you specify which ones you want to send. Because of this, I would recommend sending your current ACT now and make sure that they are sending your Oct 28 scores to GT as soon as they are available. A 33 is a really solid score, even for GT so you want them to have it. You may improve on the next test, but just in case disaster strikes (e.g. you get really sick and can’t take the test or can barely concentrate) you will know that GT has a good score from you. The Coalition and Common Apps both have the ability to indicate to GT that you’re taking the Oct 28 ACT.
Georgia Tech will take your best scores from all tests. For example, your 740 math score translates to a 33 ACT math score. Given that policy, there is no reason to worry about submitting certain “lower” scores, because they will be disregarded. http://admission.gatech.edu/freshman/standardized-tests
Submit the SAT because your SAT math score is better than your ACT math score, and that will matter. Its hard to get in, so one point may matter for math scores. Your English ACT is outstanding, and higher than average for GT, so send all the scores. Self report all the scores as well. Keep sending any new scores , to all your schools, as thats why you are bothering to take these tests again and again! Have the Oct 28th ACT automatically sent to GT, and they will take the highest score. Don’t worry if it happens to be lower, your current scores are really outstanding. Sometimes students with very good scores still go up a point each time they retake the ACT , but tests vary and it may be about the same scores as you already have. Good luck!
