about TAG

Hey guys, currently i am a student at a CC and im looking to transfer to either UCI or UCD with a electrical engineering major. I heard about TAG and i am wondering what exactly is it? How does it work? any info on TAG would be very helpful, thanks guys.

[Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) - Fall 2010](http://www.admissions.uci.edu/admissions_info/transfer_admission/tag.html)

[UC Davis : Transfer Admission Guarantee](Transfer Admission Guarantee)

I would recommend utilizing a search engine before asking on a forum, simply because it is much quicker. I simply searched “UCI TAG” and came up with the first link, and searched “UCD tag” and came up with the second.

I think different schools do 'em slightly differently. For example, UCSD doesn’t require that you fill out an extra form and send it to them; you just have to check a little box on the application, but a few UCs do make you fill out a separate form.

TAG stands for Transfer Agreement Guarantee (if i’m not mistaken). Basically, if you fulfill certain requirements you are guaranteed admittance. The details might be different for different schools, but the general idea is something like:

60 transferable units
3.0 gpa
Fulfill IGETC (or maybe some other general education pattern, i’m not sure)
Be in good standing
et al…

Make sure to check out those links, as certain impacted majors are not covered under the TAG for some schools.

Basically it’s an agreement about your admission. You do this and that, then they assure you your admission. Sweet deal right?

looks like 1 year of calculus which is calc 1+2 and physic series using calc for 2 classes as well
as well as all the classes on assist… which is alot

Engineering TAG for UC Davis has more restrictions than to other majors.
It requires a minimum of 3.1 GPA while other majors have a range of 2.8 to 3.0 GPA.

I transferred to UC Davis last year in the major of Electrical Engineering, so let me share with you the information that I was told by the UCD TAG Representative.

You must complete all the requirements on assist.org for EE.
OR
You can miss up to two prerequisite courses listed on assist.org, but you’ll have to have a higher GPA to compensate.

If you are three courses or more short from completing the list, they will not consider your application at all.

I completed everything on assist.org, but it took almost three years to transfer because I also worked full-time.

so do Engineering majors have to complete IGETC?

Not at Davis, and I think that they where modifying the requirements to put more emphasis on the pre-reqs for science/engineering majors rather than requiring the 6 or so GE classes that they currently are required to take.
