How do people waitlist for full sections when there are other opened sections? I know TeleBears automatically forces me to pick an open section before it lets me waitlist...

Is it true that this would work:
Just find an opening and get into a class. Once you are fully enrolled, you can switch into the section that you want even though there is a waitlist. Someone told me that if a section becomes 18/19 with 2 people on the waitlist and you manually switch into that section before the waitlist processes itself at midnight, you'd be able to get into that section. Is this true? Could you really bypass the waitlist this way? He said he been doing this for his last 3 years at Cal...

Thanks!

Use “add to waitlist” instead of “add class”.

I have never done that but it seems like it would work only if there wasn’t anyone already waitlisting for that section (since you do pick a section to waitlist).

I did once. Get into the class first and then switch to a open discussion session (the number of wait list does not matter)

Yes, number 2 somehow miraculously works for me. I was in Econ101A’s 8a.m. section, and there were 20 ppl on the waitlist for the 10a.m. section, though there are 2 seats left for some reason (there are 2 seats left for every section at the time, probably reserved for kids with the CECs). I just played around with Telebears and somehow it allowed me to switch into the later section, bypassing 20 other people…
