I'm an incoming freshman coming to UTD this year.
My question was whether, despite the fact that I have taken Trig, Pre-Calc, and Calc I math at Richland Community College (via dual credit), will I still have to take the ALEKS Placement Test?
Thanks.

All incoming freshman are required to take the Aleks its really easy though so just do it whenever you have free time. The cost is apparently put on your tuition so you can just log on the Aleks website and take the test.

Don’t worry about it too much, you can take it on your computer on your own time! One more test won’t do any harm.

You can retake it multiple times for placement. Not sure if they will accept the credit from RCC–Do not be surprised if they make you retake Calculus.

Frankly, I just took the ALEKS Placement Test yesterday and I was a little surprised at its difficulty. If I did well in the initial assessment, would this mean that I do not have to take any more retests?

If you placed into the course that you wanted to place into, there isn’t any need to retest.

My daughter did her first test on Monday and didn’t score quite high enough, but there were a lot of things on the test she remembered having done, but didn’t remember how to do anymore, like slant asymptotes. She is working through the learning modules and will retest again when she has gone through all of them.
