About the Early Decision / Early Action category

Here you will find threads to discuss applications and decisions for the hundreds of Early Decision and Early Action programs at colleges throughout the U.S. You will find a thread for each school that has an ED/EA process. Use the thread to connect with other applicants, discuss strategy, and (eventually) share decisions! Each thread is tagged with early-decision, early-action, official, and the name of the school.

I’m considering/applying to multiple colleges - how can I track more than one thread?
Pin it! FInd the ED/EA thread for the school, then click on the little wrench at the bottom and choose “Pin Thread”. This will allow you to customize your own set of pinned ED/EA threads to the top of the page!

I want to be notified if someone posts in a specific ED/EA thread!
You’re in luck! At the bottom of each thread is a button that usually has a bell icon:

Click on the button that says “Normal” and change it to “Watching”:

There’s a mistake in the data!
The threads are programmatically generated from a dataset that is produced each year. The current dataset is from January 2021. Additionally, each thread is a wiki, so members with a high enough level can edit the original post.

First, not a fan, plus it’s not in any order. . Hope this won’t make it more confusing to find stuff. On the Michigan one, I clicked on the Michigan page. Then it said to continue the conversation on cc. That took me to a list of colleges and not the Michigan forums… I would just have to search again for the Michigsn forums… Hmmm

Also what they did previous was have kids list their unweighted VS weighed GPA, Stat scores and list about themselves. It’s the best way to attempt to help and give factual advice. There is a thread there showing what the supermoderater (or whatever set up)…

Also try doing a search. No matter what I do I don’t come to this thread or school. Most are the “class of 2026”…this is the fall of 2022. But the search function seems lacking no matter how detailed I make it. When I put in University of Michigan the first thing is like Michigsn State etc. If I put in Early Acceptance after that still can’t get to this…

Please put this list in alphabetical order, or better yet, put each one in the corresponding school forum and pin it to the top there.

Yes, please put in alphabetical order! Though I was able to search using the “tag” search & find the appropriate thread easily. Speaking of, when you say “x% were accepted last year ED” - is this 2021 data?

Yes this ^^^… That’s what I thought was going to happen, pin it to the appropriate forum and pin. Otherwise you are taking people away from the forums and now they have multiple places to find information instead of just one location per school.

Great feedback! Here’s what we’ll be changing:

For the colleges that have a dedicated category (e.g. Harvard, Penn State, Colgate, etc), we’ll move the ED/EA thread to that category. The thread will be pinned. [In Progress]
Colleges with no dedicated category will have their threads hosted here. [No work needed]
I’ll add a comprehensive list of colleges to the original post so that you can easily find a specific college using an A-Z list. [Done]

This information seems to be different then your information for Michigan. This is from their website not a third party website.

Being accurate is a must to not confuse the applicants

We used the most popular private (purchased!) dataset to generate these posts. Apparently, some dates are badly mistaken. We’ll need to go through and make sure all 500+ are correct. In the meantime, feel free to edit the wiki of any school as well as post an update here.

In Michigan’s case, I copied the EA information directly into the original post.

Hi Mike, if you are still adding to this list my apologies for jumping the gun, but Colorado School of Mines is doing EA this year (rather than rolling admissions) so please add to the list when you get a chance. Thanks!

what day does cornell ED come out? I have seen things online for both December 11 and December 16.
also, will Penn State release any EA decisions early??

Hi! Does anyone know when you have to accept an ED offer of admission? Or is it different for every school?

I heard earlier today that many colleges use ED to fill Athletic spots, lessening the availability of non-athletic spots in the pool. If this were true, it would be disturbing, has anyone else heard of this?
