about the interview.. what kind of questions do they ask?

I have an interview at the alumni's office tomorrow..

i was wondering what kind of questions they ask you? if cornell has any policy or rules for what kind of things they want to know, etc..

the interviewers i had for other schools were young and recent graduates so i was able to ask a lot of questions about the social life, and the student life at the schools. my cornell interviewer graduated thirty years ago - so it wouldnt make sense to ask those questions?

this might sound funny but.. if the interviewr is older like in this case, are they more likely to ask serious questions? for example, my otehr interviews were mainly focused on my favorite classes, activities, etc.

has anyone had an interview with an alumni who graduated a long time ago?

My interviewer was in his fifties and he mostly asked me about what interested me, why I wanted to go to Cornell, and if I had any questions for him. He also asked me about what I did during the summer, but overall it was pretty casual.

I usually ask the applicant to tell me a little bit about his/herself, why Cornell, if there is anything that the applicant didn’t mention on their application that they would like me to mention in my report and if they have any questions they’d like to ask me about anything. Being a young interviewer, I get everything from general questions to those that want to know about the social life of students.

will it be okay to ask about the study abroad programs, music programs, etc to an interviewer who graduated almost forty years ago? I feel like if the alumni is around that age, he’ll be able to give better answers for questions like “how has attending cornell affected your career?” or something like that, rather than about the student life at cornell, since a lot of things at the school have probably changed by now…
