about the NYU summer program

the summer program for high school students........ how hard is it to get into it? would it help at all in the admission process if I attended the program?

Are you talking about the Tisch program?

it will definetely help if you do well in the class. Its a good program, but expensive. They always get more applicants than they can take, but if you send ur papers on time, you should be given a spot. I had a good time last summer.

how hard is it to get into this summer program.....?

as i mentioned above, if you send ur papers in on time, u will be given a spot. Summer programs are usually not that competetive to get in, no matter which college u apply. you have to be really stupid not to get in. u pay, u get in. getting in the summer program in no way guarantees u a sopt in the college, so nyu has nothing to lose. this is not an application for harvard, don't look too much into it, just apply. if u decide later that you don't want to attend, you don't have to.

uhm just to make this clear....... attending a summer school program in any good skool like columbia for example wouldnt really help much in college apps right? thanks in advance!

it will help, depending on how well you do in the course. if you get a professor recommendation, it will help you in admission. i took a summer course last summer in NYU, got the highest grade in class and got a professor recommendation for my application. i am sure it played a role in getting me into nyu. but don't go into the program thinking that if you do well in this, you will be accepted. you have to be a consistent performer to get into prestigious colleges and that is reflected on your transcript. gl

it does help, if you read on columbia's site whether or not attending a summer high school program helps in the undergraduate admissions process the answer was "not necessarily," meaning that in some way it does help. so far, ppl who i knew took columbia summer programs were accepted ED, and very few were deferred.

same for nyu

I was in the summer program last year and it can help a lot. Only one person from my class was rejected while two were placed in GSP. Everyone else that applied was accepted.
