How many of you perspectives wouldn’t have considered Chicago if it had not made the switch this year?

For general CCers: how many more applications will the university receive as a result of common application? How much lower the acceptance rate will be?

They might have made the switch this year, but it goes into effect next year.

Exactly what he/she says - you cannot apply to Chicago with the Common App this year. I think all the fuss about this is ridiculous. They have stated that they will still ask people to write weird essays even when they start accepting the CA. If I felt I had a really good CA essay, I would still apply to Chicago with the Uncommon App so I could "re-use" the essay.

If the change is made, that would be drastic. For example, NU had a 18% raise in app after switching to common. As its name suggests, "common" application is for common people who are much larger in number than "uncommon" people.
