About the UMich Honors Program

Hi,
I am an admitted student to LS&A, i am hoping that somebody can help me clarify a letter i've recieved a couple months ago with regards to the Honors Program. The letter states...
"The LSA Honors Program regularly reviews files of admitted students, seeking for those with particular academic strengths and interests. While reviewing admissions files, we noted that you are particularly strong in math and science. We would like to offer the opportunity to take Honors courses in mathematics and science during your first two years at Michigan."

Does this mean that i am actually accepted into the program?? or it just means that i qualify to take some honors classes?
If i am accepted.. did i get accepted into half a program?? (why is it only two years and offered only for math and science)

any help would be appreciated... thank you for your time and patience

yes, u r admitted

however, u may NOT like the honor requirements

eek... there are requirements? u mean in terms of class or grades? and will the requirements be math/science specifics or is it like a unified class. (like writing)

not sure. for my honors requirement in LSA, i heard i had to take some kind of boring liberal art classes which i dont like

Isn't there some sort of Great Books class Honors students have to take? It sounded like a really interesting class, though.

ye, BO----RING!!!!!!

yeah...i sent in my card for honors saying that i'd go...but i'm looking at the reqs and thinking it may not be worth it.

I wouldn't categorically write off the Great Books class. If you can get Ralph Williams for your prof, you won't regret it. He's won many teaching awards, including the "Golden Apple" for best undergraduate teacher.
