when colleges receive your transcripts, do they store them away in a file and wait for the rest of your material to arrive? i'm asking this because i am doing Questbridge (through which i am hoping to apply to 5 schools) but i will not be notified until october 24th about whether or not i am a finalist. however my school's guidance department demands that we send out transcripts by the 20th of October if we wish to apply early anywhere. so if i turn out to not be a finalist, will the colleges i send my transcripts to assume that i will apply eventually?

I think colleges will wait until Nov 1 and then they will start the admission process.

well what happens if i submit my transcript around now, and don’t send my application till december-january? will they still keep my transcript for regular decision?

As I understand it colleges start a file for you as soon as anything comes in to the Admissions Office for you & continue to add to it until your file is complete (by deadline) & then it can be reviewed.

Yes, they will keep your transcript. They will keep your test scores. They will keep your recommendations.

It happens all the time - different pieces come in at different times in different orders. Schools know how to handle them.

thanks! :)
