So I heard you can transfer from college after one semester of freshman year, but they put a lot more emphasis on your high school GPA and your standardized testing. This is a little worrying because although I had a pretty decent ACT score (31) I didn’t do that well in high school (3.4ish).
Do you think I should apply for transfer after one semester ends or should I wait until sophmore year? Assuming my grades this year will show that I matured from my high school career. (Wanting to transfer from MSU to UofM btw).
Also, if I try applying for transfer this year will I still be able to apply for the year after?
So you want to enter the new college in Jan 2017? All they will have to go on is your high school GPA and ACT. Were you denied at U of M last spring? If so you will be denied again.
No I don’t want to enter college in Jan 2017, I want to enter Fall of 2017. What I’m planning to do is APPLY for transfer after one semester ends, so the university can receove my application, review it and give me a decision by May
That is basically a transfer after one year because it is possible that the school will ask you for your Spring 2017 transcripts before making a final decisions. Of course you can do it but having 3 semesters completed with strong grades will help you make a better case. If, as @TomSrOfBoston mentions, if you were denied at UofM this past year, then having 3 semesters of college will be a better choice if you wish to increase your chances.
