Hello, I am trying to transfer from UCR to other UCs for fall 2011. Right now I am kinda worried because UCR decided to cancel all the 1C sections for the future.... English 1C is essential because it is part of lower division breadth requirements for me. The counselor told me take it at CC but as you all know Writing 2 in CC is REALLY hard to get in. So... Do i get a very low chance of admission if I don't get UC reciprocity? Is there a question on a UC app that asks "Will you be getting UC reciprocity?" ? If so, do I stand no chance of transferring to other UCs? Help!

If UCR is cancelling it, why is it still required for your GEs? Surely they don’t expect every student at UCR to take the course at a CC. What I’ve heard is that UC Reciprocity doesn’t completely impact your admissions, but UCs prefer you have it completed because it is a hassle to try completing your GEs at your new UC. Otherwise, I’m not exactly sure if that harms your chances or not (might want to call up an admissions office and ask). Most of the UCs just list “it is highly recommended” to complete it, but I heard that was in case you get rejected and have to stay at your UC.

Yes, there is a section where you check a box saying you will complete UC Reciprocity.

Can anyone help plz…?

try a community college for the equivalent.

Transfer reciprocity simply means you are waived out of general education and major prerequisite requirements at your destination UC if you completed all the requirements at your original UC. While completing the requirements will make you more competitive, it is not a requirement for you to be admitted. However, NOT qualifying for the reciprocity agreement means you are stuck with doing ALL of the required courses at your destination UC, which can be very painful.
