I know that the cost per credit hour at University of Maryland College Park is $317.17 + fees, my question is: Is there a cap for how many hours you have to pay? For example, I know a couple of colleges that after 15 credits, you do not have to pay anymore. Every other credits becomes free + fees. Please help…
a good question for UMD’s Bursars office: 301-314-9000.
If you are a full time student, you are charged a flat yearly tuition. Most students take 15 credits a semester. Sometimes a little more or a little less. I think it is a bit impractical to take more than 20 a semester.
To piggy-back on @SoofDad, yes, it’s a flat rate for full time students, and “full time” is defined as 12 hours per semester (from the TESTUDO webpages: “Undergraduate Students: Full-time status for undergraduate students will be based on registration for 12 or more semester hours” [audited courses don’t count towards the 12 hrs]).
So any hours beyond 12 are essentially “free”.
