Hello, I am a high school junior who is considering accelerated dental program at UPenn.

I know that there are several programs such as Lehigh/UPenn, Villanova/UPenn, UPennCAS/UPenn 7 year programs, but I do not even know how to start the application.

Do I begin by applying to both the university and the UPenn Dental School? I'm confused.

And does anybody know how many students generally apply for this type of program a year?

Anybody who has gotten into the program, please elucidate me; thank you.

You only apply to the undergraduate university. On the undergraduate application, there will be a portion for “special programs”, whether it be huntsman, m&t, or the 7-year bio-dental program. For this, you just have to click the box or drop-down menu that says that you want to do this program. Then you have to write an essay for that program where it says to. Also, they will give you a link (it will be said on the application) for a supplemental application (which, although u send it to the undergraduate school, it will be forwarded to also the dental school). This is how you apply. So all in all, you’ll have the normal Why Penn essay, then the Why Bio-Dental Program essay for the undergraduate school, and then the supplemental application will have about 4 essays i believe.

They do not give any information blatantly about how many apply or how many get in, but from what I’ve heard around, only 2-4 people get in as freshmen. A small handful of kids already at Penn who decide to submatriculate sometimes get transferred into the program too.

Hi! I was accepted with the iamabeast this year for the 7 year program. Keep in mind that if accepted to the program, you need to maintain a 3.5 gpa which isn’t very easy and people do get dropped from the program. The application is pretty simple and they say openly that they prefer people with some previous dental experience. Only a handful of people are accepted and I think this past year itmight have been only two. Good luck though! with good grades and some dental experience you definitely have a chance of getting in

So both of you guys were accepted into the UPennCAS/UPennDental 7 year, or others such as Lehigh, Villanova, etc.?

If it is the former case, then wow! I know it is hard to get into UPennCAS by itself, but on top of that, the program is amazing!!

Either way, can I please get each of your stats, if you’d like to tell me what your test scores, GPA, rank, EC’s, essays were like?

Thank you

i just sent you a message!

i’ve heard that the 7 year program is the most selective program to get into at penn

mintyunicorn,
can you post it to the thread?

I applied to Lehigh University bio-dental program with UPenn. I have received admissions today and according to the Lehigh Portal Site, I am accepted to the school but am not sure whether I am accepted to that program. How do I know about this?

Also, if I get into the program, do I get two degrees from Lehigh or one from Lehigh and the other from UPenn?

They will let you know if you are in the program…sounds like you aren’t though. You will get an undergrad degree from Lehigh and if you get through the program you will get a DMD from Penn
