I called Wake today and the lady said no one has gotten off from the wait list yet. She also added that this year, Wake received good amounts of people and deposits.

Remember, when colleges give out admissions decision, they also consider the number of people who would not attend.

For example, suppose XYZ College had full capacity of having 2500 people, then XYZ College will send out admissions to 3,000 in the premise that other 500 will not attend.

It does not mean one people will get off the wait list when one of students who got admissions planned not to attend.

This year, with baby boom, I believe Wake will barely take people off from their list. Even less than 20% or 40 people as they mentioned in the mail.

doesnt sound good at all... i hope whoever you talked to was just misinformed or maybe just said that... i dont think wake has never not used their waitlist. i mean, 20% average to 0% in a year isn't likely. 3/5 people in my school that got accepted aren't attending .. but if she is telling the truth, that doesn't sound good for me. chapel hill, here i come.

I interviewed with the assistant director of admissions about three weeks ago now. I emailed her back and forth a few times, and as of today at about nine this morning... "We have had no movement on the waiting list to date and we do not anticipate movement due to our over enrollment."

"God will either give us what we ask for or something far better." Robert Murray M'Cheyne.

I like to think about what Jesus said to Pilate before he was crucified. Pilate was talking to him and when Jesus wouldn't respond, he said "You know I have the power to kill you, right?" To which Jesus responded "The only power you have comes from my Father in Heaven." What I think about when getting news from colleges is that they really don't even have the power to say yes or no. If God wants you to go somewhere, you will get in, no matter what. And if He has better plans, you won't get in. End of story!

has anyone ever heard the little rhyme my friends used to tell me on the playground? "You can't get to Heaven in a red canoe, because God's favorite color is Carolina Blue?"

yes, my friend, i would be going to chapel hill if wake doesn't come through, though i will be wearing my black and gold anyway. i have it checked at the latest july 1, although i may extend it if i can. i really love wake. i wont give out until i get that letter.

i've gotten countless people within the university to put in a word for me, from board members to the NC senator. friends of the family who are friends of the president also called him. i have written and emailed them... i dont know what else to do at this point. i've rung my connections dry to this point.

My daughter was waitlisted last year and didn't get in; she then applied after 1st semester at another school and transferred to Wake in January. It is an option...

Best of luck to all. I know it is easier said than done, but hang in there.

ahduke, great to hear that you will continue to support the Old Gold & Black if you end up going to UNC. Kimba's route sounds promising; take some divisionals at UNC and then transfer into Wake. However, you'll have to deal with that torturous Tarheel football season... ;-)
