<p>the admissions lady told me that there would probably be around 1,000 people on NU's waitlist, judging by previous years.</p>
<p>My son was accepted off the W/L early last year. Here's what he did:
* Called to talk with Ad Rep about why he was W/L
* Sent email indicating NU was a top choice - though it wasn't his #1 choice
* Sent his 3rd quarter grades (which were still high, he didn't allow senioritis to set in until 4th quarter)
* He won a regional writing award after being W/L, so sent that along with a very flattering thank you letter (written the previous year) from an organization he volunteered for</p>
<p>If NU is your #1 choice, take action. You have nothing to lose and EVERYTHING to gain!!!</p>
<p>I plan on sending my SIR to UCLA, since i got waitlisted at Northwestern. If i get accepted at NU in the end, I can withdraw my intent to register at my other university... right? i am just clarifying this, because it makes no sense otherwise if NU sends out their WL decisions in like late June...</p>
<p>Yes, though you lose your deposit. A small price to pay, though.</p>
