So guys Please tell me which colleges should I apply
I can’t really tell you specifically, since that depends on what you want to study, what size you want, how much you can afford, and other factors. However, for very selective colleges such as Ivies, your SAT score is way too low, esp. as an international student.
I’m curious what Indian universities you would be suited for.
If you are fullpay, then many lower ranked schools will welcome you & your money with open arms.
If you require FA, then that is problematic. The selective schools which have fat endowments and therefore the most FA money to offer, tend to offer that FA to int’ls who are exceptional candidates (typically with high stats, elite talents, or with high connections).
Your nationality is also not going to help you at a selective school. You will be competing against your countrymen for a limited number of slots for Indian students-- many of whom have scary killer stats.
To put yourself in a better competitive position, you should retake the SAT to get it into the school’s top 25% scores.
With a low SAT, you will not be suited for many of the competitive schools here. Does not matter if you are above average in India.
I will retake the SAT in October if i got 1900 or 2000 then do i have any chance?
Ok thanks…but I do not want to go into top colleges … I just want to get into average colleges then which colleges should I apply
@MITer94 I want to study computer engineering in an average college and not too much expensive
What can your family afford per year? Do u need financial aid?
May be around 20000 dollars
@GMTplus7 I can afford 20k per year
You will need 12k/yr just for living expenses during the school year (that doesn’t include the 3 summer months). Roundtrip airfare to india is probably ~1000.
For state universities, OOS tuition is generally pretty expensive and $20000/yr likely won’t pay for tuition, room and board, and books/other expenses unless you have a scholarship or find work.
@MITer94 I am just talking about tuition fees not living expenses and other stuff
@SId1234 for example, OOS tuition at UCLA is over $37000/yr (assuming I read their website correctly, you can check for yourself).
If you include room/board, the cost of UCLA will be around $55K/year. Also OOS tuition is expected to increase an additional 8% over the next few years.
Do you really want to go to an American university? Your stats are pretty low to be accepted at a good US university, especially for an international student.
